Kevin Stott, the leading jockey on the all-weather this winter, has been appointed first jockey to Amo Racing.

Stott, 28, has secured a role which had been vacant since Rossa Ryan left the racing operation whose principal is football agent Kia Joorabchian.

Danish-born Stoff had trials at Tottenham Hotspur as a teenager and since becoming a jockey has ridden 579 winners including at Group 1 level when he partnered Hello Youmzain to win the Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot in 2020.

He rode 116 winners in 2022, a career high for the jockey who was based in Yorkshire with Kevin Ryan up to last season.

Amo Racing have enjoyed a number of big races successes since 2020 and invested heavily at the sales and enjoyed Group successes with the likes of Hello You, Persian Force and Go Bears Go.

Potential 2023 Derby candidate Crypto Force has moved to John & Thady Gosden since winning the Group 2 Beresford Stakes last year.

Joorabchian said: “We’re delighted to have secured Kevin as our number one rider for the 2023 season. He is super-talented and we consider him as one of the top tier elite Flat jockeys.

“I am positive we can provide him with a platform from which we can excel further and we look forward to a successful partnership.”

Stott will start work from March 1 and said: “The Amo Racing job is arguably one of the biggest. The strength and depth they have at their disposal is second to none and I’m very excited to be part of the team. I look at this as the beginning of a long successful partnership.

“I want to ride the best horses in the best races and that is the level Amo operates at, I can’t wait to get started."
