Emmerdale's Dan Spencer star, Liam Fox, has teased a potential exit for his character and Amelia Spencer (Daisy Campbell).

Next week will see Amelia and Dan decide to go on the run in order to remain together as a family after their life was turned upside down by her stalker Lloyd.

Fans will recall that Dan recently landed himself in serious trouble with the law after he punched his daughter's online stalker, Lloyd, which has resulted in the latter being left in a coma in hospital with a serious head injury.

In upcoming scenes, Dan, who has been arrested and charged over the incident, heads to court and pleads guilty to the charges against him.

Worrying about her father's future and the serious prison sentence he could face if Lloyd dies, Amelia suggests they go on the run to Ireland in order to stay as a family.

Seeing his daughter's fear and being overwhelmingly scared of prison, Dan comes round to the idea of running away and he asks Cain Dingle for help fleeing the country.

Later, Cain presents Dan and Amelia, who has been warned not to tell anyone - not even boyfriend Noah Dingle, with ferry tickets, an old car and a burner phone for their escape to Ireland.

As everything becomes very real for the father and daughter, they share a sad smile about leaving Emmerdale and set off as a three. But have they made the right decision and is this the last viewers have seen of them?

Talking about the upcoming storyline with press, including The Mirror, Dan star Liam, 53, said of whether this is the last fans see of Dan and Amelia: "Who knows, who knows? Maybe for a bit or maybe not at all. I don't know.

"There's going to be some changes there without a shadow of a doubt, we'll have to wait and see won't we I guess!"

Talking about Dan's thought process, Liam added: "He doesn't initially want to do it really. He doesn't think it's a good idea at all. After talking to Amelia, he thinks on it and thinks on it again, he just thinks: 'There's no way out of this.'

"He can't stand the thought of not being with daughter and his granddaughter. He realises that he's not going to be suited to prison life at all. So the only option at that point seems to be he's going to go on the run."

Asked what could change Dan's mind about running away, Liam said: "Just that he knows deep down, it's not a real answer. You know, you're gonna get caught eventually. It's not going to be forever, it's a fantasy world really. He knows that and he realises that and he's just gonna have to face up to the truth.

"That's how it is, it's real, in reality how many people in this sort of case can run away? They can't! You have just got to face up to it. I think it's as straightforward as that really."

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays.
