Colin Kaepernick has been brutally told by a former player to forget an NFL comeback after teams agreed there is no chance of him making a return.

A source close to the NFL told the Daily Mail that neither Kaepernick or Tom Brady will make an unlikely comeback in 2023, even though it's likely that opportunities could present themselves. An injury to Joe Burrow has already dealt the Cincinnati Bengals a massive blow, and if there are further problems elsewhere then multiple teams could be looking for solutions.

Kaepernick has been pushing for a return to the NFL for seven years after becoming a free agent in 2016. The quarterback is still only 35, but hasn't been given a single opportunity since his final playing season, where he knelt during the United States national anthem in protest while playing for the San Francisco 49ers.

But if rejection wasn't bad enough, he's since been mocked by Terence Garvin, who joined the 49ers shortly after Kaepernick left. Garvin hasn't played since 2022 and the former linebacker is only 32 himself, but told Kaepernick to take the hint.

"The senior prom was like 6 years ago, bro! It’s over!" Garvin said on 'The Arthur Moats Experience with Deke Podcast'. "It’s over, bro. You are still trying to be the prom queen. It’s a wrap. You took that money.

"He pops up this time every year. We know you can throw the ball, bro."

Garvin then explained there are too many young quarterbacks in the league to justify anyone signing Kaepernick, especially as he hasn't played regular football for over five years.

"It’s just nothing to get out of it for them, like for their owners," Garvin added. "I got the mentality where I understand a little bit of their thoughts. There's no winning there. What if you come in here and say something crazy?"

Garvin then suggested that Kaepernick is too much of a risk to NFL teams, as he's not tried to hide away from speaking his mind. "On top of that, you’ve shown me you’re dangerous," Garvin continued.

"You’d get a rally together. You can’t be leading the troops." The quarterback filed a lawsuit against the NFL in 2017, accusing league owners of collusion to keep him out of the league.

Kaepernick made a series of statements against the NFL, with his kneeling during the national anthem in 2016 his most publicised as he protested against police brutality and racial inequality in the United States. He has most recently worked out with the Las Vegas Raiders in 2022, with a comeback teased. But rumours have been wiped out, and that could be it for Kaepernick.
