GIVE Peace a chance on the opening day of Glorious Goodwood.

It can be a big advantage to be drawn low in big-field handicaps over a mile so PEACE OF MINE (5.05) could ideally positioned from the rails’ stall.

She made all the running on her handicap debut over 1m2f at Nottingham in April. Crucially, that victory was on soft ground, so she will clearly have no trouble with the damp conditions.

George Boughey’s filly has since pulled her chance away in two subsequent starts. She’s made the running both times and it might be that she'll settle better when allowed to drop behind a pacesetter.

Her proven stamina for further than this 1m trip will also come in handy on the testing ground. Have 1pt each-way at 16-1. Several bookies are paying out on six places.

PARADIAS (2.50) has also shown winning form on an easy surface.

He has looked an improved performer this season. After chasing home smart prospect Peace Man on his return to action in May, he landed a 1m1f Sandown handicap in good style.

His wide draw was his downfall when returned to that track last time as he was too enthusiastic on the wide outside. That told in the closing stages.

There’s no doubt he’s an awful lot better than that and I’m expecting him to bounce back to form. Have 1pt each-way at 16-1. Sky Bet is going six places.

Hughie Morrison hasn’t had the best of seasons but his team are in much better form now.

His MOTTISFONT (5.35) ran with credit in Group races last year.

Things haven’t gone to plan this term, but she’s not alone in that respect among Morrison’s horses.

The drop to 6f when wearing a visor for the first time saw her run her best race of the season at Newmarket’s July Meeting.

There was a lot to like about the way she stayed on in the closing stages and the slower ground should be a help. Have 1pt each-way at 14-1.

LIHOU (3.25) was a close fourth in the opening 5f sprint on this card 12 months ago.

The softer ground he faces this time is right up his street. His short-head second at Chester in June gives him a decent shout and it’s not worth worrying about his most recent run around the same tight track as he was forced to come widest around the home turn. Have 1pt each-way at 20-1.
