Man Utd duo in furious argument before Onana vs Maguire - "It's your f*** up"

The coming-together between Andre Onana and Harry Maguire wasn't the only difficult moment in Man Utd's defeat to Borussia Dortmund, with Tom Heaton and Brandon Williams also facing off.

United suffered a 3-2 defeat in their final tour game, meaning they return to the UK off the back of successive losses. The first-team were beaten 2-0 by Real Madrid days before the Dortmund game, while there was also a setback for a young squad against Wrexham.

Veteran former England international Heaton played the first 45 minutes, with new signing Onana replacing him for the second half. Dortmund struck twice before half-time, and one of those moments prompted words between the stopper and defender Williams.

Diogo Dalot put United in front in Las Vegas, only for a quickfire brace from Donyell Malen to give their opponents a half-time lead. The second of those goals left Williams furious with the goalkeeper, while Heaton blamed the full-back for playing Malen onside, and the academy talent appeared to say "It's your f*** up".

Ten Hag's side brought themselves level early in the second period, with substitute Antony finding the net. They couldn't stay on terms, though, with Youssoufa Moukoko winning the game for last season's Bundesliga runners-up.

Antony himself had been forced into action perhaps earlier than planned, replacing Omari Forson a few minutes before the half-time break. Forson was withdrawn early after a foul on Julian Ryerson, and Ten Hag had a long chat with the youngster after a challenge which could have brought a red card in different circumstances.

Tom Heaton was at the heart of the early clash

“When there is a VAR, he gets sent off," Ten Hag said of Forson. "He played a good game and the opponent gets annoyed with him so that is a learning but don’t take it into your own hands. You can’t be the judge, you have to play football, you have to beat your opponent, you have to net and that is the best way to react.”

The manager felt the tour was useful to his team, even if it ended on a low note. "The same I said to the team, I think it was a good tour but you want to finish with a good performance and you see only 60 minutes where I was pleased with but not with the goals we conceded because they were really poor," Ten Hag said.

United are back in Europe for their final two pre-season friendlies, with back-to-back matches against Lens at Old Trafford and Atletico Madrid in Dublin. Ten Hag's side will also begin their Premier League campaign at home, taking on Wolves in a Monday night kick-off on August 14.
