Gemma Owen 'grows close' to Prince William's polo pal after Luca Bish split

Gemma Owen has reportedly "grown close" to a man who has played polo with Prince William. The 20-year-old, whose dad is Liverpool legend Michael, found love with Luca Bish when she took part in last year's Love Island, but the couple split after leaving the Villa.

Since then she hasn't publicly dated anyone, and has been tending to lucrative brand deals and continuing to train in dressage at her family's luxe £4m compound. However, it seems like Gemma might be about to enjoy a new romance with Tommy Severn, as sources claim that she jetted to Ibiza to watch him play polo at the Ayala Club.

The insider told The Sun: “Gemma went to Ibiza to watch Tommy play polo in Ibiza this week. They shared a photo from the same polo club and they’re both passionate about horses.” Tommy is from a well known polo-playing family, and was pictured playing against Prince William in 2016 at Cheltenham College.

In 2020 he was interviewed about his love of the sport and how it was his granddad who helped him develop as a player and general horseman. He told the Polo Times : "Without my family, and especially my grandfather [Christopher Hanbury], I would definitely not be playing. We have a huge family and my grandfather is unbelievably generous and loved watching us all play against each other when we were younger. Through that I always wanted to play competitively and watching my uncles play, further inspired me to play."

Last November Gemma revealed she had split from Luca, 24, writing on Instagram: "To all my followers, I wanted to let you know that Luca and I are no longer in a relationship. "It wasn't an easy decision but ultimately this is what is best for both of us right now. Many of you have been on this journey with us from the very beginning, and I wanted to thank you for your continued support as we start new chapters."

It came days after Luca told journalists on TV Choice Awards red carpet: "I think you're naïve to think you're going to go in there to find love. Listen, it's called Love Island but I never went in there thinking I'd Gemma, I went in there for a fun time, we had that and on top of that, I've met a girl that I couldn't ask any more from."
