Amir Khan and his wife Faryal Makhdoom have reportedly "separated" after the former world champion boxer became embroiled in more cheating rumours.

Khan and Makhdoom, who share three children together, married back in May 2013, tying the knot at a lavish wedding venue in New York. Four years into their marriage, a sex tape of the star was leaked online, which subsequently led to the pair splitting up. After the incident made headlines, the couple called it quits, but were able to reconcile after six months apart.

However, their marriage hit rocks again when it was revealed in July that the English athlete had begged bridal model Sumaira for provocative photos and sent her flirtatious messages. Khan had also seemingly asked Sumaria to promise to delete any incriminating images in a message which read: "Think I wana get caught out?”

The athlete came clean about the incident and admitted he makes mistakes when he gets bored. He told The Sun: "Maybe I do need help to stop me from messaging other women. I am willing to go to therapy to stop me sending texts to women who aren’t my wife. I think nowadays with mental health issues, any help goes a long way. It’s definitely something I would do. Things like that do help, so maybe it’s something to think about.”

Faryal is said to have confronted her husband at their home in Dubai earlier this month after she heard about him begging a model for saucy pictures. "U look good on g string," Khan reportedly wrote in one of the messages. He also promised to delete any received photos.

Khan added: "The stupidest thing I did was to comment on this woman’s picture saying ‘nice’. I shouldn’t have done it. I have respect for my wife. I think I do these things out of boredom - I don’t think it’s that I can’t help myself.

"You get bored and start making mistakes. If I’m not careful, I will get myself into trouble - especially with the wife. She will end up saying, ‘I’ve had enough’."

Khan admitted to the incident saying "not nice what I've done" but doesn't think his actions count as cheating. "It was just a few texts," he added. "But I regret doing it."

It has since been reported by the MailOnline that Khan, 36, and Faryal, 31, are living apart. "Faryal is taking time to think about whether or not to walk away," a source told the tabloid.

A source told the publication: "Faryal is taking time to think about whether or not to walk away. She’s going through a very difficult time and choosing to focus on her children while she and Amir continue to co-parent."

It is understood that the former world champion and Instagram influencer are splitting their time between their homes in Dubai and Britain while Faryal decides whether she wants to end their 10-year marriage.

Last week, Faryal wrote on Instagram in a lengthy statement: "Over the duration of the last 7 days, I had had private conversations of mine dissected and torn apart by an alleged 'legal representative' acting on behalf of Sumaira, who has taken to social media with what I can only describe as a hate campaign.

"My name has been used in almost every single story she has posted in a bid to tarnish my reputation and name label me as not only a woman who has no 'self respect' but Amir's supporter and enabler in these circumstances, all because I refuse to publicise the private dealings I have with my husband.

"How I deal with my marriage and my husband is not the concern of anyone else. I refuse to play out my marriage publicly, the situation has been humiliating enough for me and I will not further play in the spectacle created by others in order to satisfy their desires.

"I will stand strong in my stance that I did not owe Sumaira anything more than a civil conversation. This woman was not under the impression that Amir was a single bachelor, yet she continued on speaking to him whilst gathering her evidence to take to social media, which is something I do not respect nor support."

"I am a woman who receives abuse on a daily basis simply for existing and I knew she would also receive the same for even entertaining a married man, no matter what spin she put on the story. I'm now being made responsible for Sumaria's current mental state.

"Her 'legal representative' has claimed that Sumaria suffering with her mental health as a result of her social media presence and exposures in her exchanges with my husband Amir, and this has somehow become my fault too. Amir and Sumera are both adults who engaged in consented communication.

"They did not consult me when exchanging messages nor did they consider or respect me when building a 'bond'. will not be dragged through the mud now for not 'supporting another woman'. This woman had no respect or regard for me as a woman and as Amir's wife. There was also no consideration of my mental health.

"I am not in control of Amir's actions not those of Sumaira. I had a civil conversation with her which is more than most women in my position would be willing to do." She said: "I am being criticised for being Amir's wife, for still staying with him knowing his 'track record'.

"This is the man I am married too and have three young children with. The whole world is aware of his track record, his reputation precedes him, why would you as a single woman want to engage in a conversation with him at all?' My focus is my children and shielding them from all that is happening. I am simply a mother trying to do what's best for her children and that is all I am willing to pour my energy into."
