Lionel Messi's wife appears to have cleared up any speculation surrounding the meaning behind her husband's recent celebration involving David Beckham.
The legendary forward has had a strong start to life stateside after scoring three goals in just two outings for his new club Inter Miami following his move from Paris Saint-Germain. The 36-year-old has already had several memorable moments in the Herons' pink shirt as well and it very much living up to his billing.
His dramatic last-minute strike versus Cruz Azul will go down as the moment when the iconic superstar truly announced his arrival in the US. On top of this potentially seminal strike, his distinctive celebration following his second strike against Atlanta United has captured the public's imaginations.
In that instance, the former Barcelona hero appeared aim a cryptic gesture in the direction of the Floridan franchise's co-owner David Beckham. As the headlines emerged following this unique interaction between two of the sport's biggest names, it appeared that many observers had dubbed it to signify the phrase 'hold my beer'.
The former England and Manchester United ace noticed the celebration straight away and was seen directing what seemed to be a nod of approval towards his team's new talisman. Standing up to applaud the forward, the moment was the latest display of the clear admiration the pair share for each other.

However, this theory now appears to have been debunked by the Argentine superstar's spouse Antonela Ruccozzo, who posted a picture of her husband striking the pose in question to her 36.2 million followers on Instagram. Intriguingly, the snap was accompanied by a gif showing the Marvel character Thor.
As a result, it could well be interpreted that Messi was, in fact, making a reference to the Avengers film series character, who is played by Australian actor Chris Hemsworth. It has previously been reported by Goal that the playmaker's three children are massive fans of Marvel and so the theory does certainly appear to check out, it would seem.

A real family affair, Antonela posted pictures of the youngsters before the game in the form of a selfie.
After that she was seen supporting her husband from the stands as she watched the game alongside the likes of the Beckhams, as well as celebrities including P Diddy, Camilla Cabello and DJ Khaled. She was also seen on camera cheering the team on and celebrating Robert Taylor's opening goal for Miami on the night.
Messi and his family will now have to wait a while to do it all again, however, with the Herons' next fixture coming on August 21 versus Charlotte FC. This fixture will be the first time the Argentina captain has turned out for his new team in MLS.
