Erik ten Hag and John Murtough in showdown Man Utd talks over £15m transfer
Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds messaged Manchester United goalkeeper Nathan Bishop after his clash with Wrexham striker Paul Mullen.
Mullen suffered a punctured lung after a sickening first-half collision with Bishop in United’s 3-1 defeat to Wrexham in San Diego’s Snapdragon Stadium.
Bishop was left distraught by the episode, but it has since emerged Wrexham co-owner and Deadpool star Reynolds sent a personal message to the 23-year-old goalkeeper to reassure him he was not to blame.
Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson said he was “fuming” with the incident and the decision by the match referee to only show Bishop a yellow card, rather than a straight red.
But Wrexham and former United goalkeeper Ben Foster sought out Bishop after the game to to offer his support, and Reynolds did the same, to ease the young goalkeeper’s concern over his role in the incident.

Bishop, who apologised to Mullin on social media, also messaged him after the game, to explain how the clash was unintentional, with the Wrexham striker assuring him he we not to blame.
United boss Erik ten Hag and football director John Murtough sat down with Anthony Elanga in New Jersey before the forward left the club’s US tour to complete a move to Nottingham Forest.
The trio talked through the transfer and how it was the best move for the Sweden international, acknowledging the Sweden international needed the move to play regular first-team football.
Elanga, 21, had known before the start of the summer that his game time at United next season would be limited and that a transfer was the best solution for all parties.
United will receive an initial £15million for Elanga, whose most memorable moment for the club came in a Champions League tie the season before last, when he scored in a 1-1 draw at Atletico Madrid.

After United’s 2-0 defeat to Real Madrid in Houston, winger Vinicius Jr showed his support for counterpart Alejandro Garnacho.
Outside of the dressing rooms at the NRG Stadium, Vinicius Jr presented Garnacho with his signed No. 7 shirt, along with a special message.
Vinicius referred to Garnacho as “el crack” - a slang phrase in Spanish and South American football parlance for a superstar - along with the words “Para mi hermano”, which means ‘For my brother’ in Portuguese.
United’s squad trained at the NRG the morning after their defeat to Real, before flying back to their San Diego training camp.

Before flying, the squad took the opportunity to meet players from the Houston Texans NFL side, who play their games at the NRG, at the end of their training session.
United trio Marcus Rashford, Mason Mount and Luke Shaw were afforded the chance to practise their throwing and kicking skills alongside Texans punter Cameron Johnston and kicker Ka’imi Fairbairn, with players from both sides swapping shirts.
