The Arctic Monkeys, Fred Again, Raye and J Hus have led the nominations for this year's Mercury Prize awards.

The Awards Show will be celebrating the twelve shortlisted artists and their albums – and the evening will culminate in the announcement of the overall winner of the 2023 Mercury Prize with FREENOW for Album of the Year.

The Car, the seventh studio album by the Arctic Monkeys, was named one of the shortlisted albums for the prize.

It marks the band's fifth appearance on the Shortlist, making them the joint-highest Shortlisted artist of all time, having won in 2006 for their debut album.

Ezra Collective's second album Where I'm Meant To Be, Fred Again's Actual Life 3 and Raye's debut album My 21st Century Blues were also nominated.

Little Simz won the 2022 Mercury Prize in a glittering ceremony held on October 18, which was rescheduled following the death of the Queen a month prior.

The talented artist was given the coveted award – beating 11 other artists and albums to the gong and received the Album of the Year trophy along with a cash prize of £25,000.

The artist, whose real name is Simbiatu "Simbi" Abisola Abiola Ajikawo, said she was "overwhelmed" as she accepted the gong.

It is the second time the artist has made the Mercury Prize shortlist – as she had previously been nominated for the gong in 2019 for her album Grey Area.

As she accepted the award, the rapper and singer said: "A huge thank you to my team Forever Living Originals, you already know.

"I wanna say thank you to the fans."
