Love Your Garden viewers in tears as Alan Titchmarsh transforms family yard
Love Your Garden viewers were left in tears as Alan Titchmarsh and his team transformed a family’s yard.
Alan, 74, and his team of experts headed to Kent to help a family who were in desperate need of a garden overhaul.
Viewers were introduced to five-year-old Isla, as her mum Rachel explained she was diagnosed with Dravet Syndrome when she was four months old after having a seizure.
And just a year after being diagnosed, Isla had a seizure that resulted in her brain being damaged, and she was left blind and unable to walk or talk.
Rachel revealed that due to Isla’s condition, the family spent a lot of time at home, meaning their garden space was top priority for Alan and his team.
Alan Titchmarsh says robotic lawn mowers are 'dark' and 'dangerous'The team began by ripping out the tired play equipment that was unused, and instead transformed it into a “magical paradise” perfect for little Isla.
The family were blown away by the improvements, which included an outdoor dining area with a pizza oven, as well as an accessible walkway for Isla’s wheelchair.
“David's resin bonded pathway is perfect for Isla's wheelchair, guiding her through a lush green tunnel of magical moon rings, past a bubbling snowglobe of water and elegant, leaping fountains,” Alan told viewers.
He was emotional as he revealed Isla can now play with her siblings in the garden, and enjoy the outside space.
“Thanks to Katie, she and Betsy can hide away in a new den with a flower filled roof. And watch brother George making pizzas in front of Frances' spectacular giant mural,” he continued.
Mum Rachel was overwhelmed by the changes, and gasped: “Oh god it's amazing. Look at this and my fireplace. It looks so posh! It's so posh!”
“Look at the size of that pizza oven. The boys are gonna go mad!” she laughed.
Rachel then burst into tears and was consoled by Alan, as she told him and the team that they have made her - and her family’s - dreams come true.
“It's just more than I could ever have dreamed of. It's absolutely everything... thank you,” she sobbed.
“You're so, so welcome,” Alan sweetly replied.
