Leonardo DiCaprio could 'hurt' Gigi Hadid as he is 'afraid of intimacy'

Gigi Hadid and Leonardo DiCaprio are rumoured to be dating

Leonardo DiCaprio could risk "hurting" his rumoured girlfriend Gigi Hadid due to fears over intimacy, according to a relationship expert.

The pair are thought to be in a "no-strings attached" relationship, with sources claiming they are keeping things "open and fluid" in order to manage their personal lives and hectic work schedules.

However, dating expert Elsa Moreck has warned Leo's "avoidant attachment style" could cause issues for them in the long run.

Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, she said: "Leo is the poster child for the avoidant attachment style. He can never get too intimate with a woman without getting freaked out and needing to run.

"That's probably why he chooses them young; he knows instinctively it won’t last which creates a 'built-in,' safety feature when he feels like he needs to bolt."

Elsa, dating Coach at Match Me In Miami, said she isn't surprised by Gigi and Leonardo's casual relationship.

"They're both high profile and busy as hell. If all they want in this season of life is a stress-free sex and casual companionship, who are we to judge?"

However, she warned that the relationship might not work out well for Gigi, adding: "That said, I also won't be surprised when Gigi gets hurt because she doesn't seem to be as afraid of intimacy or as intrigued by novelty as Leo is."

Gigi and Leonardo were first linked in November last year after they were reportedly getting "flirty" at dinner together in New York. The pair were said to have called time on their romance earlier this year, but they were later seen at a party together in the Hamptons.

Elsa told us: "Getting back with an ex can be a good idea depending on why you broke up in the first place. If the problem you broke up over is still present, then you're basically going to reach the same dead end.

"But if both of you have genuinely grown from the experience and are clearer on what you need to succeed this time around, then it can work out.

"With an ex, there's the bonus of having a history and intimacy that might take years to recreate with someone new. See JLo and Ben Affleck for proof."
