Margot Robbie has delighted fans after showing off her sign language skills to a fan in a resurfaced video.

The 'Barbie' star looked more than happy to communicate non-verbally at the London premiere of 'Amsterdam' last year, after meeting a man from the deaf community on the red carpet.

In the short clip, Barbie actress and producer Margot is shown being handed a cheat sheet with sign language phrases.

"For me?" she asks, before revealing, "I know it!" The Australian actress proceeds to hand her belongings over to an assistant and confidently sign the alphabet to the fan.

The interaction has since gone viral on social media - with people praising The Wolf of Wall Street star for taking the time to communicate with her fan.

"Margot Robbie signing with a hearing impaired fan is all the happiness we need today..." one impressed person wrote on Twitter. Others called her 'wonderful' and 'precious', while one particularly swooned fan said the gesture was "even more of a reason to fall in love with Margot."

"She actually did really well it’s very difficult," one fan declared as they praised the star, with another adding: "I love these videos. Cause ASL should DEFINITELY be taught in school way more often. When non deaf people are able to communicate with deaf people so many more stories, lessons and experiences can be taught and we get better as people. I KNEW the basics but forgot everything."

The 33-year-old's unexpected exchange also prompted an online discussion on the type of sign language she was using. One person mused, "First I thought it's British but the more you look at it. Def Aussie," after commending her delivery as "pretty solid." Another person disagreed with this observation, however, commenting ‘I’m deaf and sign fluent ASL. This looks like BSL."

Margot also told the fan that it was “nice to meet” him before posing alongside him in a selfie. The touching clip has since gone viral, with a view count of over 16 million. Margot, who has never spoken publicly about her background with signing, isn't the only celebrity to have learnt the language.

In 2011, Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria revealed that she had learnt sign language to communicate with fans from the deaf community, after discovering that a lot of people who were hard of hearing had bought her book. Other A-listers to have reportedly picked up some sign language include Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga and Hollyoaks' Rachel Shenton.

The UK public's understanding of sign language was also greatly enhanced by the participation of EastEnders actor Rose Ayling-Ellis, who is a member of the deaf community, in Strictly Come Dancing 2022.

The clip is just one of many Margot Robbie stories to have hit headlines in the past week. The Wolf of Wall Street star has been busy promoting her new Barbie film, which is directed by Greta Gerwig and includes a star-studded lineup, including Ryan Gosling as Ken. The US director, 39, has made history with fantasy comedy, with its opening weekend score of US$377m (£293m) making it the biggest debut ever for a movie directed by a woman.
