The brother of the late former NFL player Aaron Hernandez has reportedly been arrested for allegedly planning two school shootings.

Police said there were concerns that Dennis ‘D.J.’ Hernandez had allegedly been planning two shootings at UConn and Brown University in Bristol, Connecticut. In new Bristol Police Department (BPD) documents obtained by TMZ Sports, the 37-year-old showed signs of being "gravely disabled and a danger to society” earlier this month.

The BPD reported several people came forward and claimed Hernandez had been acting out of character and had sent disturbing text messages. One allegedly read: “We're taking lives if s*** isn't paid up. It's been years in planning just taking notes, names and locations. They talked their way into this and it's almost a point game."

On July 19, police say they read threatening language on Hernandez’s social media page, such as "Will I kill? Absolutely, I've warned my enemies so pay up front." Reportedly, Hernandez was at a residence later that day when police showed up and tried to get him to exit the home, but he had told them that he was "on foot, armed and that if we approached him, he would kill us all."

Police claimed he exited the residence soon after while yelling at them to ‘shoot him’ and ignored their instructions. Hernandez was then allegedly tasered and was taken into custody before transporting him to a local hospital to be evaluated. After leaving the hospital he was taken to the BPD and was charged with threatening behaviour and breach of peace. He was held on a $250,000 bond and is reportedly due in court next week.

This is not the first time Hernandez has been in trouble with the law. He failed to appear in court earlier this month on charges related to throwing a brick at the ESPN campus in Bristol. Hernandez was originally arrested in March and was charged with reckless driving and engaging police who were chasing him. Police say he threw a bag with the brick inside over the fence and onto the property, along with a note.

"To all media outlets, It's about time you all realise the affect media has on all family members," it read, according to the police. "Since you're a world wide leader maybe you could lead how media and messages are delivered brick by brick. Clean it up! Yours truly, Dennis J. Hernandez."

Hernandez's issues with ESPN intensified when he allegedly claimed he would kill "anyone who profited off of his brother Aaron, "according to the police. They claimed he "mentioned specifically ESPN, but not any people."

Aaron, who was DJ's younger brother, played for the New England Patriots from 2010-2012. He was convicted of murdering semi-professional football player Odin Lloyd in 2015. Just two years later, he took his own life while serving time in prison.
