An inspirational man has dropped more than half of his body weight to become an award-winning bodybuilder, and thanks to skin removal surgery he's looking and feeling better than ever.

22-year-old Rodney Lambert once weighed 30 stone. He lived an unhappy life on a diet of fast food and full-fat fizzy drinks that saw him consume a staggering 10,000 calories a day.

But now, the young man from Colorado, weighs an impressive 14 stone and has defied expectations to become an award-winning bodybuilder. He's even undergone skin removal surgery which he said seeing the results of was "the happiest day of my life".

Seeing the results of his skin removal surgery means he can truly see the full impact that losing half his body weight had on his now-ripped physique. Rodney's documenting his journey on social media, where he's amassed nearly half a million followers.

On his platform, he gives honest insight into weight loss, as well as providing people with motivational skills and tips. Talking of his life before the transformation, he said: "I felt like I was a failure in life and that I was never going to make it, but food made me happy.

"I first noticed I had a severe problem with my weight when I was 18 years old - I was watching myself die and I was using food as a way to try to cope with all my problems.

"it was harder than what I thought it was going to be when I first started trying to lose the weight, but I couldn't let that negativity affect me. I kept pushing and it's paid off. Now I've lost the weight, it feels amazing!"

As he entered his 20s, Rodney's weight ballooned. He was wearing a 4XXL size shirt and had a staggering 54-inch waist. He also had to undergo 10 hours of reconstructive surgery to repair a severe bow leg due to the damage excess weight had caused his body.

Rodney explained: "Eating seemed to make any negative emotion I was feeling disappear. I'd stuff my face and instantly feel happier. My leg got so bad that I nearly ended up disabled - all before the age of 25. It was 33 degrees off the normal angle.

"I was bullied for being the biggest kid around and subjected to lots of name-calling. It really affected my mental health, making me severely stressed and depressed. It was happening on a daily basis. They'd constantly make fun of me for being fat."

At his worst, Rodney was consuming 10,000 calories a day - four times the recommended daily intake for men. He was eating fast-food three times a day, washing it down with litres of full-fat fizzy drinks, as well as snacking on crisps and eating ice cream by the pint.

His diet before was fast-food for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with a minimum of two liters of Mountain Dew, hot Cheetos and a pint of ice cream to snack on. Now, he's eating five to six low-calorie meals with one to three snacks throughout the day, all home cooked and no eating out.

However, the once-morbidly obese teen is now an inspiration for thousands of people across the world and is making a big impact in the world of bodybuilding. He recalled: "My first step to losing weight was when I got myself a gym membership. I then cut out all fast food and fizzy drinks in one day - cold turkey style.

"Every single day I was going to the gym and doing cardio. I refused to give in to the negativity and hearing people say I wouldn't stay dedicated for long!

"I had to really dig deep in the beginning. I was getting a lot of tips from YouTube and TikTok, but I also had a couple of friends who really supported me. I can't thank them enough for what they did to help me get started!

"My family are super proud of me, which makes me happy, and it's nice to know I've been such a huge inspiration to people in my community, especially when no one thought I could do it at first."

Rodney says his weight loss is also responsible for an improvement in his mental and physical health, as well as his confidence. Now, his focus is on continuing to improve his ability, having recently had his excess skin removed in March.

He said: "I'm now 200lbs, over half of what I was, and I'm wearing a size large shirt. My waist size is 30-32 at the moment, which is great. For the future, my plans are to grow as much as possible and to compete in more bodybuilding competitions.

"I would love to continue to inspire millions of people and make them the best versions of themselves. That's my overall mission and dreams.

"I get loads of comments from people telling me how proud they are of me and how I've changed their life. I feel amazing now that I changed my life around for the best!"
