South Park managed to sneak in a cheeky joke about Meghan Markle 'copying' Kate Middleton's style.

Show creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone went to incredible lengths to poke fun at the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in the most recent episode of their satirical cartoon show.

Meghan and husband Prince Harry weren't actually named, but it was very evident who the fictional 'Prince and Princess of Canada' were supposed to be.

During the hilarious episode, everything from his frostbitten todger to her magazine covers and even that candle scandal got dragged up.

But one thing that most viewers probably missed was the subtle dig at Meghan for imitating her sister-in-law.

When Meghan started attending royal functions with Harry, some people began suggesting that Meghan was copying some style tips and tricks used by the Princess of Wales.

It even got to the stage were royal staff were reportedly said to be 'baffled' by the similarities.

It's something that the South Park creators picked up on - and included during a scene where the fictional royal couple plaster all of the princess' magazine covers on Kyle Broflovski's house.

It's a blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment as they only flash on screen for seconds, but each one relates to an actual front cover that Meghan has done.

For example, they have reproduced Meghan's Vanity Fair cover from before she wed Harry, and one she recently did for The Cut to promote her Spotify podcast.

But the only one that Meghan didn't actually do is the Vogue cover - as Kate actually posed up for the photo shoot in 2016.

On his Royal Rogue YouTube channel, expert Jesús Enrique Rosas points out: "The South Park writers went as far to imply that Meghan copies Catherine. This was masterful."

With fire emojis, he then tweeted: "LMAO even in South Park Meghan copies Catherine THE BURN"

After joining the Royal Family, Meghan very understandably went for more traditional looks, opting for long hemlines, formal coats and timeless shades suitable for the events she attended.

These changes were interpreted by some as examples of Meghan 'copying' Kate - with her staff said to be 'miffed' by it.

In 2018, a source told the Sun: "It hasn't gone unnoticed by Kate's circle. Everybody's a bit baffled.

"Meghan was a style icon and knew what to wear... But since joining the royals she seems to be a bit lost. Instead of finding her feet she is copying what Kate wears more often than ever.

"Kate always looks stylish. She has been in the family for years and knows the protocol. So it makes sense that Meghan would look to her for inspiration."

In 2020, it was reported that Meghan was mirroring one of Kate's tried and tested styling habits - paying tribute to the country she is visiting through her choice of colours.

Kate hasn't got off scot free, as she was mocked during a savage takedown of her wedding to William back in 2011.

Also using the fake Canadian royals as a substitute for the real British version, season 15 episode 'Royal Pudding' saw the writers take the mick out of royal traditions.

A band plays 'the march of a thousand farts', guests throw Captain Crunch instead of confetti and the happy couple then dip their arms in a massive batch of butterscotch pudding

The main gag of the scene was to show ludicrous parts of the wedding ceremony while the commentator says "as is tradition" - and the final part saw the prince ripping off the princess' arms.

The portrayal of the Sussexes in the TV show has "upset and overwhelmed" Meghan over the last few days, according to a source, reports The Spectator.

They also added that she "is annoyed by South Park but refuses to watch it all".

One royal commentator has claimed that the couple "could call in the lawyers" against the hit-Comedy Central show.

Neil Sean told Fox News: "According to sources close to the ex-royals, it appears that, like so many things with Meghan and Harry, this may have legal ramifications attached.

"Their legal team are casting an eye over the episode to see what is wrong, and what could be turned into something more sinister."

However, a royal expert on Good Morning Britain claimed William would have "had a wry smile on his face" as he watched the adult cartoon take aim at his brother and sister-in-law.

Many viewers were quick to point out that Meghan and Harry are not the only royals to have been targeted by the cartoon show.

One viewer wrote: "Yes South Park have roasted Harry and Meghan but they've done the same to William and Kate and have a history of dragging the royals before. It's actually an honour to be coated by South Park because it shows you're someone of relevance"

"Yes...South Park does what South Park does...roast everybody...as they did with William and Kate at their wedding. This is nothing new, so this Harry n Meghan hysteria is a bit melodramatic," added another.

A third said: "It's almost as if people don't know how South Park works. They already did William and Catherine 12 years ago. They've done the whole Royal Family. It's what they do. You're nobody until South Park spoofs you."
