Manchester United have confirmed that Alex Telles has left the club for Al-Nassr as he is reunited with Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Brazilian, signed from Porto in the summer of 2020, did not figure in Erik ten Hag ’s plans for the coming season. He did not report for the first day of pre-season as he pursued a move to Saudi Arabia.

His £4m switch to Al-Nassr has now been completed as he becomes the latest star to make a move to the Gulf state this summer. Telles leaves having made just 30 appearances in the Premier League before being sent out on-loan to Spanish side Sevilla last season.

It has been reported that Ronaldo was a driving force behind Al-Nassr’s move for Telles as he attempts to help the club to the Saudi league title. They went close last season but could only finish second and five points behind eventual champions Al-Ittihad.

Telles’ move also represents the next stage of a huge overhaul of players at Old Trafford under current boss Erik ten Hag. A number of players have already been released at the end of their contracts including Axel Tuanzebe, Phil Jones and David de Gea.

The exits are not expected to end there either, with a further five first-team stars linked with departures. Telles’ compatriot, Fred, is attracting interest from Fulham, with United thought to be open to him moving on.

Academy graduates Anthony Elanga and Dean Henderson could also both be set to end their associations with the Red Devils. The latter spent last season on loan with Nottingham Forest and has long been touted for a return to the City Ground.

He looks likely to be joined by Swedish winger Anthony Elanga, who is closing in on a £15m switch to the East Midlands. The Daily Mail reports that a deal has been agreed between the two clubs, whilst he will undergo a medical with his new employers on Monday.

A couple of defenders could also be set for exits before the end of the transfer window. Eric Bailly does not have a future with the Red Devils following his loan spell with Marseille.

Saudi clubs have shown a tentative interest in recruiting the Ivorian, whilst Spanish side Real Betis have also been linked with a swoop.

The final departure could well see former club captain Harry Maguire moved on. Maguire, still the most expensive defender in world football, has seen the captaincy stripped from him ahead of the new season.

It comes after he fell down the pecking order under Erik ten Hag last term. Premier League clubs have been linked with making a move for him including Tottenham and West Ham.
