Sting is taking a step away from music to launch a new career - as an alcohol salesman.

The 71-year-old chart topping star - who is married to actress Trudie Styler - is also taking inspiration from one of his biggest hits from the 1980s to launch a brand that will sell wine, cider, spirits and more.

Sting will trade the new alcohol arm of his various businesses through his company Steerpike Limited which is listed as a company providing support activities to performing arts.

The latest venture comes after the singer - who enjoyed success as frontman of new wave rock band the Police from 1977 until their breakup in 1986 - bought a vineyard in Italy and started producing wine.

According to The Sun on Sunday, Sting’s new company will be called Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic - named after his 1981 song of the same name.

They report that the company will sell “wines, liqueurs, brandy, cider, cocktails, gin, kirsch, rum, sake, vodka, whisky.”

The new venture will no doubt boost Sting’s already considerable fortune - as he is believed to be worth a staggering £430 million.

Last year it was revealed the musician was earning almost £200,000 a day after selling his back-catalogue.

The singer had sold his back-catalogue of hits to Universal - which includes the huge hits include Every Breath You Take, Roxanne and Fields of Gold.

A Mirror report last year explained that Sting may have made a bumper profit from the initial sale - but could see income drop in the future due to loss of income from royalties.

The strategic review of his finances stated: “During the year the Group sold the rights to its music catalogue to Songs of Universal.”

It warned future profits may dip as a result stating: “This has the effect of reducing future income from royalties.”

Accounts from 2020 reported turnover at £106.2m, and a £24.7m pre-tax profit; as well as a £70,876,446 salary payable to Sting.

Over the two years the company has made over £100m with other profits from ‘wine, food production and food distribution.’

His huge financial windfall came after the singer said last year that he was less in love with music as he had been in his youth.

He said: “I don’t think I am [as obsessive with music now]. There’s enough music going on in my head and during the day recording that I actually want to give myself a rest from it.

“In some ways there’s a curse attached to it, because everything you hear you are forced to analyse rather than enjoy. If I’m in a restaurant and there’s music playing my brain is attuned to the music more than it is the conversation.

“So, I’ll just wander off in my head going, ‘Oh, that’s a flatted fifth. What’s that chord? A diminished chord.’ So I’ll lose the thread of the conversation. But people are used to me by now.”
