Canadian tennis star Eugenie Bouchard has shared her disbelief over claims Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were denied permission to board Air Force One after the Queen's funeral.

Bouchard, who is currently making a comeback after nursing a 17-month shoulder injury which resulted in surgery, took to social media to share her shock over the claims.

Eugenie posted a screenshot of an article claiming that Harry and Meghan were refused permission to board Air Force One alongside President Joe Biden after the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II.

Bouchard, 29, wrote alongside the snippet to her 2.4million followers: "This can't be real," seemingly in disbelief over the claims.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex reportedly asked to board the iconic aircraft but had their request denied by the White House over fears it could harm relations with the Royal Family.

A source alleged to MailOnline that the request was denied in case it caused a "commotion" and potentially damaged the President's relationship with the Palace.

According to the media outlet, Meghan and Harry's team "reached out to the White House to ask if the couple could get a ride back to the United States on Air Force One," with them allegedly noting how it would have made for a "grand photo opportunity".

The publication went on to claim it was an "immediate no from the Americans, with Biden's staff recognising it was a no-go".

Sources also alleged there was barely any discussion to be had on the topic other than it being a "non-starter".

The outlet also claimed Harry and Meghan have allegedly been "trying to gain political influence in the US", and they were hoping that a flight on Air Force One would aid this.

Crisis communications specialist Andy Barr thinks Harry and Meghan's Air Force One snub proves they forgot the "golden rule" of royalty.

He told the Mirror he believes the snub was a way to "keep a bit of distance from the couple" following their "security-staff-drama" in the UK.

Barr explained: "Harry and Meghan forgot the golden rule of giving up a globally respected royal title: you become just like us ordinary folk. OK, so they are not quite at the same ‘ordinary folk’ level as you and I, but they no longer fall into the Royal category.

"Whilst they are very much at the top of the A-List celeb spectrum, a royal title gives you access to things that us normal people can only dream of.

He added: "Biden’s team would have been worried about the optics, and the precedence it would have set, for other A-Listers. If he had said ‘yes’, where would it end? Giving a Kardashian a lift to their next Instagram shoot?

"Biden and his team are probably also still smarting over the fall out some time ago from their getting embroiled in the security-staff-drama and will be keen to try and keep a bit of distance from the couple."
