Jersey Shore's Snooki talks weight gain as ville trolls call her 'disgusting'
Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi has urged her followers to "stop commenting on people's bodies" on social media, with her having stated that "everyone fluctuates with their weight".
The reality TV star, 35 - who rose to fame on MTV's Jersey Shore back in 2009 - took to TikTok on Thursday to share her thoughts on opinions about other people's weight.
She discussed this in a video that she shared on the platform, in which she opened up about her own "struggles" with weight and warned that some people are "sensitive".
She said: "I just wanted to make this video to talk about this because I know it's an issue for a lot of people [...] and it's called weight. I have struggled with my weight my entire life."
Snooki went on to discuss having been "underweight" in high school and not eating, with her adding in the video that the situation at the time was "getting scary".
Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi prays her kids avoid reality TV for 'good careers'She commented: "I wanted to be size 0 and so skinny, and I fit in the jeans, but oh my god, I was so sad. Not eating, no energy. That continued a little after high school."
The reality TV star continued in the recent video: "And then 21 comes and I start Jersey Shore. I wasn't working out really but I was like 'you know what I'm gonna enjoy my life'."
Snooki said that this included not worrying about what she was eating, calorie counting or restricting herself to certain meal times. She commented: "No girl, I enjoyed myself".
Further sharing her experience, she continued: "So I gained weight through Jersey Shore. I feel like I was always confident in my skin. No matter what size I was.
"I could be a size 0, size 5, size 8 and I was like 'okay'. Because I'm confident, I know that I'm beautiful, I'm amazing, no matter what size I am," she further commented.
She added: "Everyone fluctuates with their weight. Everyone goes y'know here and there with it. And who are you to call people 'pigs' and 'fat' and 'disgusting' and [say] 'your body looks terrible'? Like no. This is an education for you."
She said: "If you think those things, which I'm sure a lot of people have opinions. [...] Everyone has an opinion about everybody. You wanna judge people's looks, people's bodies, do it in the own comfort of your a**hole mind, or just like call somebody, call your a**hole friend to gossip about somebody's weight.
"But don't comment it on the internet, because people are sensitive and especially people that have had eating disorders and like trouble with their body and image, and they finally are starting to love themselves.
"And then [people are like] 'oh my god they gained five pounds, you're a fat pig. You're disgusting. You gained weight. Wow what happened to you'. That's no okay, because you can put people in a hole again after they finally got out of it."
She said: "So this video is for everyone out there; stop commenting on people's weight! It doesn't matter. Doesn't matter if you gain ten pounds, five pounds, or if you lost twenty pounds, who the f*** cares?"
