Love Island fans left speechless after 'most brutal game' sees tensions rise

Love Island certainly cranked up the drama during the latest episode which saw the Couple Goals challenge come to life.

While the ITV2 dating programme is certainly no stranger to giving fans a dramatic viewing experience, they certainly hadn't anticipated what was in store. As the singletons edge nearer to the final with some being "closed off", they were dealt with a string of questions as part of the tense challenge.

But in true Love Island style, things were never going to be that straightforward forward with things soon coming to blows for some Islanders. After being asked several questions, the singletons were asked to share their answers with the whole group.

As their intimate thoughts became public knowledge things soon took a turn for the worse as they had to pick different couples for a series of statements, from the most smug couple and the least matched couple, to the most one-sided pairing.

Abi and Scott were one couple that were picked a number of times for most of the negative statements, while they kept picking Mitch and Ella B and vice versa.

Mitch and Scott ended up clashing as the Islanders laughed, but other comments made by other Islanders left viewers convinced no one liked Abi and Scott as a couple. Scott said his row with Mitch "crossed the line" as Abi confessed that no couple had her back, and she ended up feeling alone - especially as Scott was accused of not liking Abi.

Tyrique made a jibe at Scott and Abi suggesting "At least he's with someone he cares about". Sammy then commented that Scott had a "don't care mentality" about Abi.

Shortly after the dramatic scenes, viewers took to social media to share their thoughts, with one writing: "That was probably the most brutal game in Love Island history." As a second penned: "That was one of the best challenges so far, defo some serious tension in this villa."

"This challenge is THE best one ever!" exclaimed a third. During the task, several Islanders claimed Abi didn't initially like Scott and saw him as a convenience, while others suggested Scott didn't show he liked Abi. Lochan claimed Abi still had feelings for Mitch, something others backed, and he went on to add that Scott "just nods" as Abi does all the talking.

Mitch and Ella also made claims about things Abi had said about Scott, and the same happened with Scott about Abi by some of the boys. Ella T suggested Abi might have her head turned as she changed her mind about Scott, with Zach adding that they only went for each other "because their original scenarios didn't work".
