Aled Jones had his £17,000 Rolex stolen while he and his son were out and about in London, it has been alleged.

Reports claim that Aled and Lucas, 18, were left distressed after the alleged thief approached them before he handed over his eye-watering watch rather than fighting back.

The musician who found fame with the hit 1985 song, Walking in the Air was said to be close to his home in the capital city when the alleged attack happened.

It's claimed the musician-turned-television presenter had been wearing a Rolex Daytona which starts at a retail price of a whopping £16,400.00.

"Aled was totally shocked as it came out of nowhere and all happened so fast," a source told The Sun, before adding: "The robber threatened him with the machete and demanded the Rolex. Luckily Aled was savvy enough not to put up a fight for the watch while he was having a deadly weapon waved at him."

The source went on to suggest that Aled had been "relieved" that neither he nor his son Lucas were hurt and managed to return to the safety of their home. The attack is said to have happened earlier this month on July 7, with the musician swiftly calling the police and the culprit being tracked down within minutes.

Aled is no stranger to sharing his love of watches and in 2016, didn't hold back as he discussed his favourite British Bremont watch, saying: "It's a Codebreaker watch that has part of the Enigma in it. It incorporates wood from hut six in Bletchley Park where Alan Turing helped shorten the Second World War. So it's a huge part of history and it beats a Rolex or Cartier any day."

In a statement to The Mirror, the Metropolitan Police said: "A boy has been charged with a robbery in Chiswick. Following an investigation by detectives from the West Area Command Unit, a 16-year-old from Felltham, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was charged on Friday, 14 July with one count of robbery.

"He was kept in custody at appear at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court the next day. He has been bailed to appear at Wimbledon Youth Court for trial on Thursday, 24 August.

"The charge follows a robbery on Friday, 7 July on Chiswick Road, W4. At about 17:40hrs a 52-year-old man reported he had been approached by a male who threatened him with a machete and demanded his watch."

The teen has denied the charges and will face a trial next month, The Sun reports.

The Mirror has approached Aled's representatives for comment.
