Emmerdale actor Adam Thomas's restaurant business in Manchester has gone bust with reported debts of nearly £300,000.

The actor and I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! star, who appeared on the 16th series of the gruelling ITV show, owned The Spinn in Gatley alongside school pal Scott Graham since 2019, but has been forced to close the establishment.

Citing the impact from the pandemic and blows to the hospitality industry, the business firm Gatley Bar and Grill Ltd was formally put into administration on Tuesday, with debts of £293,996, including £71,423 owed to the tax man.

Adam resigned from his role of director for his restaurant business, which included a burger and sauce company, last April and announced the closure of the restaurant, which employed 12 members of staff, in September last year.

Announcing the shock closure of the restaurant last year, Adam Thomas said: "Unfortunately we have decided to close The Spinn. We did what we had to do with The Spinn and we learnt so much building our first venture and more importantly we had an absolute blast.

"But after 3 years we felt the time was right for us to move on. We are now focusing on the next chapter of The Spinn … The Spinn off [bar] and Oh My Glaze [burger sauce company]."

He added: "Thanks again to everyone who has supported us along the way and continues to support us and to all our staff who we will continue to take on this journey with us."

Adam and Scott also launched The Spinn Off bar in the historic Underbanks district of Stockport in June last year, which became a hugely popular spot for cocktails and beers.

The Mirror has contacted Adam Thomas for comment.

The star has previously opened up about the difficulties of having a regular job after time on a soap, as he shared: "Ever since I left Emmerdale, I’ve been going from job to job, not knowing necessarily where my next pay cheque is coming from."

Last month it was revealed that Strictly Come Dancing is reportedly set to sign up the soap star for their upcoming series.

Adam, who previously played Adam Barton in ITV's Emmerdale, is said to be considering donning his dancing shoes to take part in the BBC show which will begin later this year.

An insider told The Sun: "After two decades on screen and, as one of the Thomas brothers, he instantly brings a huge fanbase. That’s what Strictly bosses love.

"Producers also see him as someone who can fill the young hunk role, which is important and often sees them pick soap stars."
