Zara McDermott spills on gruelling Sam Thompson break-up
Zara McDermott has opened up about her gruelling and very public break-up with Sam Thompson.
Made In Chelsea star Sam's whirlwind romance with the beauty briefly fell apart during lockdown after she admitting to cheating on Sam during the early days of their romance.
The 30-year-old fell head over heels for former Love Island siren Zara, 26, in 2019 when the brunette bombshell cheekily slid into his Instagram DMs.
After the brief split in 2020, the couple are back together and going strong now of course – but the very public split hasn't been totally forgotten.
Zara was speaking on Sam and Pete Wick's podcast, Staying Relevant, when they revealed they still see memes of their Made In Chelsea split online – namely, Zara's emotional reaction when Sam declared it was over.
TOWIE's Chloe Brockett makes cheeky dig at Saffron Lempriere during filmingLadies' man Pete discussed Sam and Zara's brief split, which played out on the E4 reality show and provided one of the programme's most viral scenes.
Zara revealed: "I want to give a bit more context to the meme, and I've never spoken about the meme before in my life.
"I just need to give a bit more context to the meme. People say, 'she wasn't crying'..."
Sam added: "You weren't crying you had not one tear. The driest eyes in the building."
Zara interrupted: "Can I just say I had... I remember that scene; we turn up to this park and I turn up at 12.30pm and we filmed through until – I remember I left there at 6pm."
Pete asked: "You spent six hours?" "Yes," Zara insisted. "So, obviously, the parts of the 'you can' are the parts where I am at my emotional end at this point. It's been five, probably five and a half hours of this. I'm so dehydrated, I've cried so much and then that's the bit..."
Sam then joked: "Well we didn't see that bit did we?"
"Well because obviously at the start I was a bit more tearful," she replied as Sam joked she had "cried dust".
Ex TOWIE star Pete then revealed he had a similar experience where he spent "five hours having an argument".
Pete said: "In the end I was switched off and I was completely blank and I was being shouted at and people were like, 'He just doesn't care' because I was like that just looking around the room.
Richard 'shuts up' GMB guest who says Hancock 'deserved' being called 'd***head'"I don't care because I've heard it for five hours! I don't care because I just don't care now."
Zara discussed her romance with MIC star Sam and revealed she doesn't feel pressured to take her relationship to "the next step".
"We have a very normal relationship, we just make funny videos and that's our thing we do for fun," she told the Mirror.
"I think we've been together too long now to feel any kind of pressure, I was thinking back to my relationships before Love Island, it's very different.
"Everything is private, nobody knows anything about what you're doing and all of a sudden, it's this weird paradox life where everything is online all the time but we both really enjoy it. So for us, there's no pressure at all."
This weekend, presenter Sam revealed his use of AI bots to style Zara.
In return, Zara asked both the AI platforms to inspire a summer holiday look for her man.
They took up the challenged this by putting technology to the test in a styling challenge by McArthurGlen Designer Outlets.
Sam said: “I am actually at the outlet for the discounts, that’s what brings me joy!”
Zara added: “You know how much joy shopping gives me and AI has made us both stylists... I absolutely love this outfit; this is a vibe.”
