Boney M star Liz Mitchell 'shaken' as she's rushed to hospital after car crash
Boney M singer Liz Mitchell was taken to the hospital after crashing her car.
The 71-year-old was on her way to visit her brother in jail in Cambridgeshire when she accidentally drove her car into a ditch.
She suffered minor injuries from the crash last week and is recovering at home.
A spokesperson for Liz said: "Liz was driving her Mercedes with husband Thomas in the passenger seat when she was suddenly confronted by an oncoming vehicle, and in a split second she had to steer off the road to avoid a head-on collision.
"The car ended up in a ditch, and Liz suffered a broken arm, while they both received cuts and bruises, and were very shaken up."

The statement continued: "The emergency services were brilliant, and the couple want to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped, both at the scene and all the hospital staff at Peterborough.
"Liz is now focussed on fully recovering in time for her planned concerts in Europe and her upcoming US tour next month."
A spokesperson for Cambridgeshire police said they were called to reports of a collision at 11.37am on July 13 on the A47 at Thorney Toll.

She is currently recovering at home"One vehicle was involved and was found to be in a ditch. The driver, female, was initially trapped in the vehicle but was extracted and a male passenger managed to get out," the person said.
"Officers and paramedics attended the scene. No serious injuries were reported. The road was clear at about 1.20pm."
Liz was travelling with a passenger and was understood to have been visiting her brother Khalid Rashad at Whitemoor Prison.
The ambulance service said they were called to the scene and one woman was taken to Peterborough City Hospital.
A source told The Sun she was 'shaken' by the crash and added that she 'fortunately escaped serious energy'.
Mirror have contacted Liz's reps for comment.
The British-Jamaican singer was one of the original singers of Boney M - with original members including Marcia Barrett, Maizie Williams and Bobby Farrell.

Boney M was put together by German singer Frank Farian who produced a lot of the vocals for the group.
The group, which disbanded in 1986, are known for their hits Daddy Cool, Rasputin, and Rivers of Babylon.

Liz was born in Clarendon Paris, Jamaica before moving to London when she was 11 years old.
She later moved to Berlin to join the German cast of Hair where she replaced Donna Summer. She later joined the Les Humphries Singers for a few years.
Liz recently sat down with the Mirror and discussed her career as well as the Windrush scandal.
She explained: “It was devastating, not just for me but for all the immigrants from around the world in this country.
"Some of my family and friends had to fight to stay because they didn’t have the right documents, but I know of some people who did get sent back.”
