Girl, 4, dies after being found unresponsive as cops probe 'unexplained' death

Police are probing the "unexplained" death of a four-year-old girl who was found unresponsive at a house early this morning.

Emergency services were called to the property in the town of Stranraer, Dumfries and Galloway at around 6.10am.

The girl was rushed to hospital, where she was sadly pronounced dead a short time later. The exact circumstances surrounding her death remain unclear.

Pictures showed officers standing guard outside the home, while ambulance crews were seen nearby, reports the Daily Record.

Detectives have since launched an investigation into her death, which is being treated as unexplained.

In a statement, Police Scotland said: "Around 6.10am on Sunday, July 16, 2023 officers were called to a report of an unresponsive child at an address on Eastwood Avenue, Stranraer.

“Emergency services attended and the four-year-old girl was taken to hospital where she was pronounced dead a short time later.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the cause of death, which is currently being treated as unexplained."
