William treats himself to electric scooter to zoom around huge Windsor estate
Prince William has treated himself to an electric scooter in order to zoom around the huge Windsor estate.
It appears the Prince of Wales has bought the 10mph two-wheeler to zip around the estate - a three-mile round trip from Adelaide Cottage to Windsor Castle.
William, 41, is known to be environmentally conscious, with this latest purchase a switch from his love of motorbikes. A source told The Sun: “It just makes sense. He whizzes up to the castle when he needs to see the King.”
E-scooters are illegal to ride on public roads unless part of an approved hire scheme. However, they can be used on private land, as Wills does.
“It’s a two or three-mile round trip from his family home at Adelaide Cottage to Windsor Castle so it’s easier by scooter than car or walking," the source added.
Strictly's Molly Rainford and Tyler West fuel romance rumours while on tourThe sprawling 655-acre estate consists of a golf course as well as Frogmore House and Meghan and Harry's former home, Frogmore Cottage.
Kate and Wills moved to Adelaide Cottage from Kensington Palace last year with children George, Charlotte and Louis. They attend Lambrook School after the eldest two siblings moved from St Thomas' in Battersea.
The future king has spoken of his passion for motorbikes and rode one in London on the eve of his 2011 wedding. In 2008 he and brother Harry did a charity motorcycle rally across South Africa.
But Wills has since put the hobby on the back burner.
At the 2018 Isle of Man TT races he said: “I’m a dad of three. I have to tone it down. I miss the big trips, for me biking was always about being with everybody else.”
Prince William's spokesman declined to comment on the scooter.
