BBC One viewers won't be seeing The One Show on screens on Friday night due to a schedule shake-up.

Presenter Alex Jones announced on Thursday that the programme won't be airing on the evening of July 14.

While saying goodbye to viewers, she told them they will be seeing her again on Monday evening.

The One Show won't be airing to make room for Wimbledon 2023 from 7pm to 9pm while BBC Two is showing BBC Proms 2023 at the same time.

The programme will be returning to its normal slot on BBC One on Monday.

Earlier this month, Alex reunited with her ex-boyfriend Steve Jones in an awkward chat on The One Show.

The two Welsh presenters were in a relationship from 1999 to 2002 when they both worked on Channel 4 show Rise, but split after Steve stole an interview with a Hollywood A-lister from Alex.

Appearing on the show alongside his ex, Steve, 46, discussed his first novel – ‘Call Time’ – about a man who finds an old mobile phone and ends up speaking to his 12-year-old self.

Steve explained the unusual idea came about while he was day-drinking in the pub with a close friend of his, and the rest became history.

While presenting with Jermaine Jenas, Alex introduced her ex-partner and joked that she 'read all about' Steve's book.

However, viewers were not convinced that the pair felt comfortable being around one another after their bitter break-up years back.

Taking to Twitter to share their reactions to the interview - which also had Joanna Lumley on the sofa - viewers called out the awkward interview.

"Steve can't even look Alex in the eye! He's glaring at Jermaine," one insisted.

"OMG you could cut the tension with a knife between Alex and Steve," another echoed.

"They had a brutal breakup but fair play to them for being the bigger people and actually coming together for an interview like this," someone else pointed out.

Alex previously opened up about their split and said Steve lied in order to take her interview with Angelina Jolie.

She discussed the betrayal on an episode of the Dish podcast with Nick Grimshaw and Angela Hartnett.

At the time, she was working as an entertainment correspondent on Rise when she was given the opportunity to interview the Hollywood icon.

In order to intercept the interview, Steve told her bosses she was sick when she was actually just out shopping.

The One Show host revealed that Steve had told her bosses that she was sick when she was actually just out shopping.

"I was staying in his [Steve’s] flat at the time when I was working in London and he picked up the landline and said ‘Al’s not here. She’s not feeling well, she’s had to go back to Cardiff’ – I was in Topshop."

"So he did the interview," Alex added.
