Despite his recent public appearances, Jamie Foxx is still said to be "not 100 per cent" following his hospitalisation in April following a mystery illness.

The 55-year-old's demise in health was said to have occurred while he was working on the Netflix film Back in Action. The incident required an extensive hospital stay for the Hollywood star and attendance at a physical rehab centre.

And while he was recently spotted waving and smiling at fans during several outings, it has now been claimed that he has a way to go on his health journey.

"Jamie is doing so much better, and he's starting to feel like himself again. He's not 100 per cent and is still taking things easy, but he's definitely on the road to recovery," a source said.

They went on to say that the Oscar winner "has a huge support system around him, and his friends and family are making sure that he doesn't take on too much."

US Weekly added that while he's taking things slow, he is "feeling really good and is excited to get back to work once the time is right."

This comes after the star smiled and waved at fans and even threw up a peace sign as he cruised down the Chicago River on a boat over the weekend.

While many fans quickly praised the actor's return, others still were running with the bizarre theory that it is, in fact, his body double.

This comes after a tough few months for the star following his hospitalisation in which his daughter Corinne revealed her dad had suffered a "medical complication".

There have been a number of updates about his recovery from those close to him in the months that followed, with some claiming he is "still not himself".

Jamie has yet to address his health struggle publicly.

There have since been some updates about his recovery from those close to him, with it now claimed that Jamie - whose credits include the films Ray (2004) and Django Unchained (2012) - is "still not himself".

Discussing the actor's health, a source told People magazine this week: "He is getting the best care and working hard to recover right now, but he is still not himself."

The source further stated that those close to Jamie remain tight-lipped about his health, with them telling the outlet recently: "He has the tightest circle around him".
