This is the hilarious moment a thief appears to stick two golf clubs down his trousers after acting suspiciously during a visit to a shop.

CCTV footage emerged showing two men browsing the pro shop at Royal Winchester Golf Club in Hampshire.

As they get to the putters, one appears to shove two clubs - worth £850 - down his trousers while the other helps him.

The duo then carry on as if nothing has happened before seemingly making for the exit.

Ferndown Forest Golf Course - a Dorset club linked to Royal Winchester - tweeted out the video.

"Watch this from our Royal Winchester Shop.... Just needs a Benny Hill tune played over the top. I promise it is real and not a set-up."

A follow-up tweet added: "Before anyone asks, the staff were by the door speaking with another customer.

"These two walked out and got in to their van and drove away. We have all their details and have since identified them."

The club have since said that the golf clubs - both £425 Scotty Cameron putters - have been returned.

Hampshire Police has been informed and is investigating the incident.
