Amy Price believed she would have been dead by now after being diagnosed with terminal lung cancer as well as idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.

Katie Price's mum made the decision to share her own memoir in order to set the record straight about her celebrity daughter following years of her personal troubles.

But Amy herself has faced struggles and was given a life expectancy of up to five years after receiving her devastating diagnosis.

Now, the 71-year-old has told how she initially believed she wouldn't be alive to see the release of her autobiography which she says is a "legacy about her family".

"When I started writing it I thought I would have been dead, touch wood, I'm still here," she said.

Meanwhile, her daughter Katie, 56, went on to say: "You're still here and what I love is, because we were all worrying and thinking 'We don't know what's in your book mum', and if you're dead, we're going to have to put up with what you said and now you've survived it, you can put up with it!"

Discussing her memoir, Amy told OK! magazine: "It is about things that have affected Kate. What people don't really know about Kate, they'll find in my book. I want to set the record straight because I know her the best." It's reported that Amy will detail Ktie being admitted to the priory and her on-off relationships. Amy had planned to focus one part of her autobiography on Katie's drink-driving crash in September 2021.

At the time, the former Page 3 model was banned from driving and was behind the wheel of a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol as well as driving without insurance.

She pleaded guilty to the allegations and was banned from driving for a further two years which she branded a "wake-up call".

Writing in her book, Amy said: "It had all come to a head, after all the years of failed relationships, betrayals by friends, duplicitous managers, and the painful loneliness she had experienced all her life. We seriously thought about sectioning Kate under the Mental Health Act, but I just couldn't do that to my own daughter."

In a harrowing admission, Amy explained that moments after the crash, an unknown man stopped to help the television personality and she overheard him saying: "You've got five kids, you've got everything to live for."

After being released from a police station, Amy's step-dad Paul instantly took her to the priory where she made another attempt on her life.
