Liverpool have already signed Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai this summer - with more transfers on the horizon.

Jurgen Klopp wants to revamp his squad after a disappointing 2022/23 campaign. The Reds finished fifth in the Premier League - causing them to miss out on Champions League football - and failed to compete in the major cup competitions.

The likes of Roberto Firmino, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita and James Milner have already left Liverpool on free transfers - and there could be more departures yet. Any sales would be a huge boost to Klopp's transfer budget.

With that in mind, here are the latest headlines from Merseyside...

Lavia boost

Southampton manager Russell Martin has admitted some of his players will leave the club this summer, as Klopp chases midfielder Romeo Lavia. The Belgium international, 19, is a transfer target for Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal.

Lavia played 29 Premier League games for Southampton last season, as they were relegated to the Championship. It's believed the Saints want £50million for the teenager, who was signed from Manchester City for an initial £10.5m a year ago. Southampton will not let him go on the cheap because they owe City 20 per cent of any future sale.

"I hope I can convince some people to stay who were 50-50 about it," Martin, who recently left Swansea for the Southampton job, told BBC Radio Solent. "I think there will be some players who we can't avoid [losing] who will be back in the Premier League.

"That's the nature of the game and some of them will be far too attractive to Premier League teams and will want to go and play in the Premier League. You have to respect that."

Saudis want Thiago

Clubs in Saudi Arabia are seriously interested in signing Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara, according to The Athletic. The 32-year-old midfielder, who has just a year remaining on his contract, has already rejected one 'lucrative' offer from Saudi Arabia.

As things stand, Thiago wants to stay at Liverpool and he is in Klopp's plans for the new season. But things could change very quickly if the Saudis were to up their bid. The Reds would receive a decent transfer fee if Thiago heads to Saudi Arabia.

Phillips on the move

Feyenoord are after Liverpool defender Nat Phillips, according to The Athletic. Phillips, 26, made just five appearances for the Reds last season and wants to complete a transfer to play more often. It's believed Liverpool want £10m for the defender.

Feyenoord can offer Phillips, who has two years left on his contract, Champions League football. He's best remembered by Liverpool fans for helping them finishing in third in Premier League two years ago after an injury crisis rocked Klopp's defence.

Phillips stayed at Liverpool last season to cover for Ibrahima Konate, who was restricted to just 18 Premier League appearances due to injury. Klopp has been supportive of the Englishman's career in the past and is unlikely to block a move this summer.
