Samsung's S22 device drops to lowest ever price with £300 off
Want to upgrade to a brand-new Samsung phone? For a limited time, you can get the Galaxy S22 for its lowest ever price …but this brilliant discount comes with a warning.
That’s because the Galaxy S22 is not the latest-and-greatest flagship phone from Samsung. It was released last year and has since been superseded by the Galaxy S23 range. At £439.99, this is the lowest ever price for Galaxy S22 on Amazon.
If you’re worried about pocketing the very latest gadget from Samsung, this might not be the right deal for you. For everyone else, this brilliant Amazon deal makes the Galaxy S22 – which was the best phone available from the South Korean brand less than six months ago – more affordable than its mid-range handsets, like the Galaxy A54 (£499).
Samsung Galaxy S22 remains an astounding handset with a 6.1-inch edge-to-edge screen, buttery-smooth 120Hz high refresh-rate, 50-megapixel camera with support for Portrait Mode-style photos and videos, 5G and wired fast charging support.
While it might not be the latest-and-greatest in the Galaxy S range, Samsung has pledged to support its smartphones with four years of updates for the latest features and five years of crucial security updates. So, you can expect to get the latest Android upgrades in a free update for your Galaxy S22 until as late as 2026.
Martin Lewis issues 8-week warning to phone users ahead of huge price hikesSamsung typically releases its latest Galaxy S phones in February. Provided the South Korean firm sticks with its usual release schedule, it’ll be a while before we see new handsets in this line-up. If you want to buy the Galaxy S23 from Amazon, prices start from £849 – that’s a £400 premium over the very capable Galaxy S22 from last year.
The tech deals don't stop at Samsung products either, as the retailer prepares to host its sale there are some hard to beat offers 'hidden' across its site. The 2022 iPad Pro 12-inch is now reduced to £1,962, £87 cheaper than Amazon's initial price and the price still being offerred at Apple.
Smartwatches are other pieces of tech we've spotted in the deals, as the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 is dropped by £50 on various different colourways.
The deals come ahead of Amazon’s blockbuster Prime Day sale. The sale starts on July 11 and ends at midnight on July 12. Unfortunately, we won't know until the day how much cheaper products will be, but if global tech brands are hundreds of pounds off now it's likely we'll see similar drops on fellow smartphone brands too.
There are ways getting around it of course, shoppers could make use of Amazon's 30-day free trial and get Prime discounts for a whole month. Those who sign up for the free trial now can access the sale discounts next week and leave once the event has ended, so you avoid paying the £8.99 monthly fee.
For those who have the membership it's crucial to check on you individual account status, to check if your account is on automatic renewal or not.
If your account is not on renewal and it runs out before Prime Day you will miss out on the discounts. A select few account members who have previously had Prime Membership before will notice another trial period option, where they can pay 99p for a one week trial.
