Man and woman found dead at Premier Inn with 'mystery substance' at hotel scene

A man and a woman have been found dead at a Premier Inn in East London along with a reported mystery substance.

Police were called to the hotel in Mercury Gardens, Romford at 12.43pm on Saturday afternoon after the pair were found unresponsive. They were later pronounced dead at the scene.

Metropolitan Police are treating the two deaths as unexpected, and investigations to establish the circumstances are ongoing. Specialist officers were also present at the scene following reports of an unidentified substance.

Members of the London Ambulance Service and London Fire Brigade also attended the incident, a force spokesperson said.

A Premier Inn spokesperson told the Mirror: "Our thoughts are with the friends and family of these guests at this terribly sad time. Our team are assisting the police with their investigation."

Officers attended along with the London Ambulance Service and the London Fire Brigade. A man and a woman were pronounced dead at the scene.
