A remastered version of Rockstar's 2010 western Red Dead Redemption has been a huge request from fans for a long time, and now it looks like those dreams may come true if a new listing from the South Korea Game Rating and Administration Committee is any indication.

Red Dead Redemption is one of the most beloved games of all time and arguably the best title Rockstar Games has ever made. Despite the enduring popularity of the game it never made it onto any other consoles other than the Xbox 360 and PS3 outside of backwards compatibility, not even making it to PC.

The sequel, Red Dead Redemption 2, came to PS4, Xbox One and PC and went without a new version of the original anywhere to be seen (although despite the name, Red Dead 2 is a prequel so it's not a huge deal). Considering almost every highly acclaimed game from the seventh generation of consoles was eventually remastered for new hardware (multiple times in the case of The Last of Us and GTA 5) everyone expected the original Red Dead Redemption would follow, but it never did.

But not all hope is lost, as a new listing on the South Korea Game Rating and Administration Committee website (via @IdleSloth84_ on Twitter) has popped up for a title simply known as 'Red Dead Redemption'. As IGN notes, the South Korean ratings board has been responsible for many leaks in the past, including the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 campaign remaster.

The rating doesn't give anything away about the supposed remaster. Fans are speculating about whether it's a straight port of the original version, a remastered version with improved graphics and performance, or even a full blown remake to bring it in line with Red Dead Redemption 2. We'll only know for sure when Rockstar Games confirms it, which considering the game has been given a rating could be very soon.

Yeehaw

A version of the original Red Dead Redemption remade in Red Dead Redemption 2's engine would be a dream come true, but considering past Rockstar ports have been simple remasters like GTA 5 on PS5 or total monstrosities like GTA: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition, which – despite the name – was anything but definitive.

Hopefully Rockstar's original open world yeehaw simulator fares a little better than the new versions of the PS2 trilogy. That way even more people can experience the tale of John Marston and find out what happens after the end of the (superior) Red Dead Redemption 2.
