Karcher VC4 cordless vacuum really works wonders at picking up dust and debris

Although it may look confusing, the accessories are pretty easy to use and assemble

I tried Karcher's VC4 cordless vacuum cleaner and was pleasantly surprised by how much dust and debris it collected. One would assume that dust in the home mounts up over a period of time, but this certainly is not the case - but I'll get to that later.

Included with the vacuum, which came in three parts that were very easy to put together, was a foam filter, an air inlet filter, a universal floor nozzle, a crevice nozzle, and a wall bracket for hanging it up when not in use.

Once all the pieces were put together, I charged the vacuum up for the recommended 5.45 hours which allows for a 30 minute run time. If you forget how long it's been charging, not to worry as a green light located at the front will flash until it's fully charged.

Figuring out what all the buttons were for was pretty simple. The power switch is located on the easy-to-hold handle and features a lock, so when you've got a large area to vacuum, click the lock into place, and it will save you from having to keep hold of the power button.

It also comes with a 'boost' button, once pressed it will ramp up the suction power, which is handy if you're trying to suck up stubborn dust, or get to any hard-to-reach areas of your home.

This feature was particularly useful when I was reaching for cobwebs above my staircase, tucked into a corner. It saved me from dangerously reaching too far over the staircase.

At first use, I gave the downstairs of my home a quick whip around just to see how the VC4 vacuum would perform. It eliminated quite a bit of debris in that first use, so I decided to use it several times in the same week and I couldn't believe the amount of dust that was collected each time I used it.

The collection bin is transparent so you can easily monitor how much dust is being collected each time, and emptying the bin is really simple, all you have to do is click one button and it will release everything that's inside.

It's recommended that the filter gets a regular clean, and thankfully this is easy to do. All that is required is a slight tug of the filter which is situated directly inside the collection bin. Once removed, all you need to do is give it a shake, wipe it down, or use a brush to remove the dust, and just pop it back in.

This particular model does have it's setbacks, but it depends on the amount of household mess you produce. If your home is prone to collating larger debris particles, for example, teeny tiny stones that may get carried into the home on your shoes - the VC4 unfortunately won't whip these up, even when using the power boost.

I found that larger debris particles rattled around annoyingly inside the vacuum tube and would spontaneously spit them out.

There is only one major downside to using this particular model

When vacuuming over fluffy carpets and rugs, the head of the vacuum will only go in one direction, so you won't be able to go back and forth over the same spot which I found slightly frustrating as I felt the carpet didn't get a thorough clean.

But if you're after a practical, lightweight vacuum that will make quick clean ups of your home easier, using minimum effort, then the Karcher VC4 Cordless Vacuum is a great option.

You can also transform it into a handheld vacuum using the included crevice tool which allows you to get in between sofa cushions and cupboards, up high and under furniture, while the included brush allows you to collect dust from stairs, the sofa and upholstery - and you can give your car a quick and easy valet too.

There's much to like about the Karcher VC4 Vacuum, especially if lots of dust is your main issue, and you're looking to regularly vacuum at home. Thankfully, the 30 minute run time will allow you to do a whip around without having to worry that the battery is going to run out mid flow.
