TWO time Oscar-winning actor Kevin Spacey has appeared in court accused of sexually assaulting four men.

The American Beauty star faces a dozen charges, including sexual assault, indecent assault and causing a person to engage in penetrative sexual activity without consent.

The actor, charged under his full name of Kevin Spacey Fowler, denies all 12 counts, which relate to alleged incidents against four people between 2001 and 2013.

In one count, read to the court, Spacey is accused of forcing a man to touch his genitals over clothing on no less than five occasions between May 1 and 24 June 2005.

In another count, he is accused of forcing a person to engage in penetrative sexual activity by putting the alleged victim’s penis in his mouth without their consent in August 2008.

The 63-year-old arrived at Southwark Crown Court on Wednesday in a taxi wearing a grey suit, blue shirt and a pink tie.

He took a moment to say good morning to people assembled outside court before making his way into the building.

The House of Cards star, who has a home in the US and an address in Waterloo, central London, appeared in the dock wearing dark-rimmed glasses as the jury of three women and nine men, with two alternates, were sworn in.

He was released on unconditional bail by judge Mr Justice Wall.

The trial, which is scheduled to last four weeks, was adjourned until Friday.

Mr Justice Wall told the jury panel of 14 that the case is one which has "quite obviously" attracted a lot of media attention but that they "must avoid this coverage where you can".

He said: "A particular danger, especially in a case like this where the defendant has a public profile, is using your computer to research things."

And he warned the panel to avoid using their computers for "anything to do with this trial".
