Orlando Bloom explains how he busted Bling Ring crew to get back stolen watches
Orlando Bloom has revealed he went under cover to retrieve stolen watches from a criminal gang after they broke into his LA home and made off with the time pieces.
The 46-year-old Lord of the Rings actor was one of the victims of the infamous ‘Bling Ring’ group of criminals who ransacked the homes of celebrities in Los Angeles between October 2008 and August 2009.
Orlando fell victim to the criminal activity and was targeted in June 2009 by the criminals who aimed to steal lingerie belonging to his then-girlfriend Miranda Kerr.
However, the group stole the film star’s vintage Rolex watch collection - as well as designer clothes, Louis Vuitton luggage and artwork.

He said: “They took a lot of things. It was a really weird situation.
“What they did find was a stash of watches I had and I didn’t have a safe…it didn’t even occur to me to have one.”
The actor managed to learn where his stolen watches were being sold - and decided to walk straight into the pawn shop himself.
He recounted the moment while appearing on The Late Late Show in the USA (CBS)He explained: “I just rocked up to his shop one day and I wired myself. I had a little microphone.
“I called a private detective! And I said, ‘What do I do?’
“And he said, ‘Just get one of those little voice recorders. Get one of these and do it.’ And I was like, ‘Okay.’ So I go down there, just me.”
He went on to explain that the shop owner was “freaked out” to see him and he managed to negotiate the safe return of five out of the 10 watches that had been stolen.

The film star admits that he and 38-year-old Katy have a very lively home life.
He told Flaunt: “We're in two very different pools. Her pool is not a pool that I necessarily understand, and I think my pool is not a pool that she necessarily understands.

“Sometimes things are really, really, really, challenging. I won’t lie. We definitely battle with our emotions and creativity.
"I think we’re both aware of how blessed we are to have uniquely connected in the way that we did at the time that we did, and there’s definitely never a dull moment.”
Orlando is now engaged to pop sensation Katy Perry - with whom he shares a daughter (Getty Images for Lifetime)Orlando and Katy have been together since January 2016, have been engaged since February 2018, and welcomed a daughter named Daisy in August 2020.
The actor shares a 12-year-old son named Flynn with ex-wife Miranda Kerr, who he divorced back in 2013.
