Mick Jagger’s girlfriend shows off the new ring he gave her but insists she and her precious Stone have no plans to marry.

Ex-ballerina Melanie Hamrick, who released her debut novel First Position this week, said although the sparkler is on her engagement finger, she is calling it a “promise ring”.

She said: “I have to giggle because did Mick give me the ring? Yes.

"Is it for that finger? Yes. But are we like, horny teenagers where we’re giving each other... In my mind, it’s a promise ring. We’ll be immature and call it a promise ring.”

Melanie, 36, met Mick, 79, in 2014 when she was engaged and he was in a long-term relationship with US fashion designer L’Wren Scott.

L’Wren took her own life less than a month later, reportedly because of debts and business difficulties.

Melanie and Mick were photographed together a few months later.

The pair welcomed their son Deveraux Octavian Basil – the rocker’s eighth child – in 2016.

Asked if she ever saw herself married, Melanie said: “I don’t know, I’m kind of like, a live-in-the-moment type of person, so who knows.”

Despite working with Mick on a 2019 ballet, American Melanie says she is a solo artist these days.

“I’ve been keeping work separate,” she said. “For me personally, I prefer that because then it’s kind of fun.

“We are in such similar careers, to keep it separate is better. You’re working with the person all day, and then you’re with them at night. It’s like, too much.”

Melanie spent 15 years as part of the American Ballet Theatre.

She retired in 2019 and signed up with romance story publisher Mills & Boon, taking about a year to write her ballet-themed debut.
