The stepson of a billionaire on board the missing Titanic submarine has now deleted his Twitter account after facing an intense backlash for enjoying a Blink-182 concert.

Brian Szasz decided to attend the gig in San Diego while the search for his stepdad Hamish Harding and four other passengers continued.

Hamish remains trapped inside the submersible which is 13,000 feet under the ocean, with the oxygen supply on board expected to run out at 12.08pm today.

Before deleting his social media account, Brian admitted he knew some people would find his decision to go to the concert "distasteful" but tried to justify his actions.

Sharing a snap of himself at a merchandise stand, he said: "It might be distasteful being here but my family would want me to be at the Blink-182 show as it's my favorite band and music helps me in difficult times!"

He ended by posting a black heart emoji and praying hands.

Many people were outraged by Brian's post, including rapper Cardi B who slammed him for having a good time amid an ongoing family crisis.

Taking to social media, Cardi said: "One of the billionaires, their stepson is at a concert right, at a Blink 182 concert.

"And people are like ''erm what is he supposed to do, be sad at the house, is he supposed to go look for him himself?' Yes!"

She added: "You are supposed to be at the house sad, be crying for me, you are supposed to be right next to the phone, waiting to hear any updates about me."

Brian has now decided to take a step back following the backlash.

A search for his Twitter now shows up with a notification which reads: "This Tweet is from an account that no longer exists."

The submarine which Hamish is on board, named Titan, lost communication with tour operators on Sunday during a voyage to the Titanic shipwreck off the coast of Canada.

Rescue workers are continuing in their search for the missing vessel.
