Photos have given a glimpse inside the mansion that used to be the home of the late Walt Disney, who's said to have worked on some of his classic films at the property.

The animator, film producer and entrepreneur - who died in 1996, aged 65 - is considered a pioneer for his work on cartoons for what became the Walt Disney Company.

Disney's early films included Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937), Pinocchio (1940) and Cinderella (1950), following Mickey Mouse's debut in Steamboat Willie (1928).

Walt is said to have lived in a property that he built for his family during much of that period from 1932 to 1950, with the four-bedroom home now reportedly up for lease.

The outlet claims that in 1932, with proceeds from a project involving the character Mickey, the animator purchased a plot of land in Los Angeles to build a family home.

He is said to have worked with architect Frank Crowhurst to design and build the residence in the city, which mixes styles and has become known as Walt's 'Storybook Mansion'.

At the time, he had been married to his wife Lillian Disney for a few years, with the couple said to have later raised their daughters, Diane Disney and Sharon Disney, at the home.

According to the outlet, it was in the house that Walt "imagined and worked on some of his most important movies" like the three early examples previously mentioned.

Walt is said to have lived there from 1932 to 1950, with other Disney films released during that period having included animations Fantasia (1940), Dumbo (1941), and Bambi (1942).

It adds that it was in the original home theatre that he watched the dailies of some of his films, with the room having now been updated to include modern technology.

The house has a turrett at one of its entrances and the property is said to include a cobblestone motorcourt, stained glass windows, wood-beamed ceilings and other features.

It has a contemporary kitchen that features marble counters, a centre island, stainless steel appliances and a number of cupboards. And it even includes its own walk-in pantry.

A dining room in the property boasts a muraled ceiling and photos from the indoor space show vintage furniture, including a table that seats eight on top of a lengthy rug.

It's understood that another room, believed to be the 'primary suite', includes a large en-suite bathroom that has pale blue walls, dual vanities and a walk-in shower.

According to the outlet, the property sits on more than an acre of land in Los Angeles and features "park-like grounds" that have landscaped walkways and various lawns.

The outdoor space includes a dining area for the residents, a cottage-style playhouse that's said to have been a gift to Walt's children and there's also a swimming pool.

The property is reportedly now owned by filmmaker Timur Bekmambetov and the home is said to be being offered for lease at $40,000 (around £31,000) per month.

And according to the outlet, the listing for Walt's 'storybook mansion' is being held by Chase Camden of Compass.
