Manchester United are set to offer Marcus Rashford a £375,000-a-week contract - replacing David de Gea as the club's top earner.

Rashford, 25, has just completed the finest season of his career to date, scoring 30 goals for United. The England international's superb form helped Erik ten Hag's side finish third in the Premier League, win the Carabao Cup and reach the FA Cup final.

United are keen to tie Rashford, who found the net just five times during the 2021-22 campaign, down to a new long-term contract following his revival under Ten Hag. The forward was born and raised in Manchester, first joining his boyhood club in 2005.

De Gea, meanwhile, is out of contract this summer and remains locked in contract talks with United. The 32-year-old goalkeeper currently earns £375,000-a-week - the amount offered to Rashford - but will need to take a significant pay cut to stay at Old Trafford.

As reported by The Sun, United will offer Rashford £375,000-a-week and De Gea £200,000-a-week. Rashford's existing deal, which expires in a year's time, is thought to be worth £200,000-a-week. The two players would effectively be trading salaries.

It's claimed United aren't too worried about losing De Gea this summer. If De Gea agrees to the proposal, they can afford to offer Rashford a lucrative deal. If the Spaniard says no, they can dip into the market and sign a younger goalkeeper and build for the future.

United are believed to be interested in Everton stopper Jordan Pickford, who is currently England's No.1. According to the Daily Star, the Red Devils are willing to pay £45million for Pickford and hand him a £200,000-a-week deal, doubling his Toffees wage.

In short, United will offer that £200,000-a-week salary to Pickford if De Gea walks out of Old Trafford. Another goalkeeper target for United is Brentford's David Raya, although Tottenham are leading the race for the 27-year-old Spain international.

While De Gea's future hangs in the balance, United are thought to be confident of securing Rashford's services for the next stage of his career. The forward has won the FA Cup, Europa League, Community Shield and two Carabao Cups with his boyhood club.

Speaking about Rashford's future in April, Ten Hag said: "No, it is not a concern for me. I don't want to give a comment on the process because I don't think it will support the process. But I'm quite relaxed."

Paris Saint-Germain have previously shown an interest in Rashford, who refused to discuss his future last season. He even took to Twitter in March to quash a transfer rumour.

Rashford tweeted: "Just before this one starts to do the rounds! It's complete nonsense. The club and [myself] have been respectful to one another, and that's how it will remain. My focus is purely on finishing as well as possible in the league and winning trophies."
