Former This Morning star Dr Ranj Singh has seemingly hit out at the ITV show once again.

The medical professional worked on the daytime TV programme from 2016 but departed over a year ago, after raising concerns regarding a 'toxic' culture on the show.

Following Phillip Schofield's admission he had an "unwise but not illegal" affair with a younger This Morning employee, Dr Ranj spoke out about how he once placed a formal complaint about an unnamed bully on the set.

Dr Ranj took to social media following Phil's ITV exit last month to blast the channel's 'toxic culture' and explained his decision to leave the broadcaster.

Writing on social media today, This Morning's former resident medical expert has clarified his original comments and revealed his complaint was not directed towards Phil.

"Just for clarity my complaint (and investigation) was not about Phillip - it was not about ITV as a channel and I did speak up when I was working on This Morning," Dr Ranj penned on Twitter.

"I flagged up my concerns as I was supposed to and I did it because I wanted things to be better for all. As I still do."

In additional tweet, the doctor added: "Policies and procedures may be in place but that doesn't mean everyone is aware/feels empowered to use them.

"And investigations are only as good as the people/questions you ask. If you can't/won't speak up, you won't get the full picture. This applies across all industries."

Dr Ranj's latest tweets come less than 24 hours on from the Government's Digital Culture Media and Sport Committee quizzing ITV's chief executive, Dame Carolyn McCall.

ITV bosses admitted in the public hearing that they did not officially investigate Phil's affair.

When questioned about Dr Ranj's comments about a 'toxic' workplace, Dame Carolyn claimed: "We don't recognise that culture."

Phil stood down as host of the British Soap Awards and Dancing On Ice just days on from his This Morning exit being announced last month and admitted to an "unwise but not illegal" relationship with a younger co-worker in the past.

"I did have a consensual on-off relationship with a younger male colleague at This Morning," Phil stated within the statement shared on May 27.

"Contrary to speculation, whilst I met the man when he was a teenager and was asked to help him to get into television, it was only after he started to work on the show that it became more than just a friendship. That relationship was unwise, but not illegal. It is now over."
