Death in Paradise first look as bad news arrives and Neville struggles in jail

Death In Paradise's Neville Parker struggles in jail in an exclusive first look at tonight's episode.

Neville (played by Ralf Little) has been arrested over a murder in a special two part episode, with the second airing this evening. It all began when Neville received a worrying letter that a murder is set to be committed today.

Soon, a body turns up and the team have to work out what happened. Neville lead the team with the support of DS Naomi Thomas (Shantol Jackson), Officer Marlon Pryce (Tahj Miles) and Trainee Officer Darlene Curtis (Ginny Holder), whilst Commissioner Selwyn Patterson (Don Warrington) watches on with a keen eye over proceedings.

However, when the main suspect - former forensics professor David Cartwright - ended up dead, Neville soon found himself in the frame for the murder and his colleagues had to make the tough decision to arrest him for what he had done.

In this first look clip, shared exclusively with the Mirror Online, Neville is held in a cell in his own police station as Darlene comes to visit him and offer him a cup of tea. Dishevelled and downcast, he admits he's "ok".

"Marlon and I were just wondering, would you like us to let your mum and sister know what's going on?" she asks.

He pauses before replying: "Not just yet if that's ok," as Darlene reassures him that they were all on his side and are sure he wasn't the one who committed the murder. "We know you didn't do this, we'll fight for you whatever it takes," she vowed.

However, they were soon interrupted by Marlon arriving, who told them the commissioner was on his way back. But what will happen to Neville? Did he really commit the murder or will they be able to help him prove his innocence.

It comes after Death in Paradise's boss gave an update on the future of the BBC show.

Tim Key told Radio Times:"We're going to keep on going as long as people watch the show, and loads of people watch the show - we love it. We'll keep making it as long as the audience loves watching it.

"So, I don't know about another renewal, but we're ready to do it again if we're asked to do it again."

For now though, he says fans have a lot to look forward to this series.

"It's going to be interesting. Everything in this series is going in directions that people won't expect. I think that's a fair thing to say," he explained as he teased what they could expect from the coming few episodes.
