Kaz Crossley has been arrested and is being held in custody in Dubai on suspicion of drug offences.

The influencer, who appeared on the 2018 series of Love Island, was detained at Abu Dhabi airport in transit for a flight to Thailand.

It comes after a suspicious video of her snorting a suspicious white substance at a party emerged two years ago.

It is understood that Kaz's name was flagged to the United Arab Emirates authorities who are reportedly still looking into the viral clip.

The footage of Kaz was filmed during lockdown when the former Love Island star jetted out to the desert to escape restrictions in the UK.

Kaz could be seen bending over to lower her head towards a side table, on which lines of a white powder appear to be laid out in the viral clip from 2020.

She appeared to be dressed up to party in the footage in a bright orange dress which she paired with nude heels.

According to The Sun, upon Kaz's latest arrival to the UAE, she was refused a phone call her family after her arrest which took place on Monday.

Amid the strict laws against alcohol and drugs in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, the reality TV star could face a minimum of three months in jail and a £5,000 fine if found guilty of taking or possessing drugs.

In Dubai possession of drugs, even residual amounts, are severe and punishable by up to 20 years imprisonment as the UAE has a zero-tolerance for drugs-related offences.

“She was looking forward to getting back to Thailand where she has been doing voluntary work and all of a sudden she is languishing in a Dubai jail," a source told The Sun.

"Everyone knows how strict they are about drugs over there. She must be terrified. She had only stopped off in Abu Dhabi to catch a connecting flight but her name has obviously raised a red flag.

The insider added that Kaz was allowed to send just one email but wasn't allowed to make a phone call to her family.

“She messaged one particular friend whose email she could remember and asked her to inform her family that she was OK but had been arrested for drug offences. The arrest wasn’t because of anything she had on her. As far as we know it is all down to that video.”

A spokesperson for the Foreign Office told the publication: "We are in contact with the local authorities following the arrest of a British national in the United Arab Emirates."
