With its troubled launch issues firmly in the review mirror, Cyberpunk 2077 is speeding towards its first expansion – and it's a hefty one, rolling two previously planned DLCs into one, and fans of the series can pre-order it now.

Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty is the opportunity for CD Projekt Red to patch up the holes in its reputation that were carved out with the incredibly rough launch of the original game in December 2020. Straddling two console generations, the title was a buggy mess on both and the studio even found itself at the centre of a lawsuit that saw it pay out millions to shareholders as part of a settlement over the state of the game.

Plans for DLC for The Witcher series were put on hold while the developer rolled up its sleeves to remedy the situation. Now we're finally getting the promised expansion – although initial plans for two Cyberpunk DLCs have given way to the larger, single Phantom Liberty expansion.

Players on PS4 and Xbox One are going to have to sit this one though, as the Cyberpunk 2077 DLC is coming to PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PS5 only. You can pick up the Phantom Liberty DLC as a standalone expansion, or bundled along with the base game when it launches this September 26, 2023.

In terms of the content itself, the events take place during the main story and open up an additional ending for the main game as well as presenting multiple resolutions for the DLC itself. So even if you've already completed the game, the new content can change up your ending.
