The UK has its own "mini-Hawaii" complete with a waterfall and a Victorian bathing pool.

If you are looking to head to the Pacific island for a slice of sand and sunshine, then it is going to cost you. The cheapest one way flights from the UK to Hawaii currently cost in the region of £800.

As enticing as a trip to the surfer's paradise may be, now that the weather has finally warmed up, it certainly makes more financial sense to look for alternatives in the UK, Devon Live reports.

For those looking for a secluded beach that boasts equally beautiful scenery, Woody Bay, in Devon, could be the perfect spot.

The tucked away pebbly strip can only be accessed by a zig-zagged path that crosses through a stretch of trees, providing a wild and woody approach before the sea reveals itself.

Once at the beach itself the must striking feature is the way the sheer cliffs rise up from the water's edge, creating a dramatic view for those below.

Off the top of the rock formations tumbles a waterfall which swells to a considerable size after periods of intense rainfall, misting part of the coastline in a cooling spray.

Woody bay even has a Victorian bath pool which can easily be mistaken for a natural geological formation at first glance. Sat right underneath the cliffs and between two huge chunks of stone, the pool has steps carved into its side to make entering and exiting easier.

The pool was part of a larger vision by Victorian engineers to make the area an exclusive holiday resort, with roads, houses, a golf course and a pier also built but no longer surviving.

"If you’re lucky enough to get the pool alone, this really is an experience," wild swimming blog All the Lidos writes of the swimming spot.

"It’s the only tidal pool I’ve ever swam in that I could compare to a spa-like experience. The salty water of the Atlantic keeps you buoyant if you lie back, while the colours and texture of the cliff face are mesmerising."

As if the waterfall, secluded beach and bathing pool weren't draws enough, then the nearby miniature railway surely seals the deal.

Woody Bay, within the Exmoor National Park, is a station on the former Lynton and Barnstaple Railway. It no longer runs fulltime, but steam enthusiasts occasionally get the engines going down the tracks.

Instagram user CJexplores recently discovered the beach and enthused about it in a video.

She asaid: "Isn’t it magical!? Located in North Devon, on Exmoor NP’s coastline. There’s a small car park near a path that leads to the beach. The path zig-zags down through woodland and is fairly steep - approximately 20 mins down and 30 minutes uphill.

"There are no facilities or lifeguards so you’ll need to bring and take everything with you. Please leave no trash.

Her video amassed thousands of likes and elicited a great deal of enthusiasm from social media users.

One person wrote: "Can’t believe this is England!" Another said: "Wow! Looks like Hawaii", a third penned: "I would have never expected this in the UK! So beautiful."
