An ex-hotel manager has shared a couple of disgusting industry secrets, sharing what they would never use in rooms for fear of what came before.

One of the joys when booking into a room for the first time is checking out the freebies littered around.

And while some will be delighted to see some of the everyday items, ex hotel manager Melissa Hanks shared she will always avoid some of those.

In a viral TikTok video she shared her views are based on disgusting reasons - and first hand experience from what she found left behind by some gross guests’ stays.

She added that’s because the filter is never washed and some people use it to brew things other than coffee.

Grimly, she said she had seen bodily fluids in some shampoo and conditioner bottles.

Plenty of people will have seen her advice as it has been watched 1.7 million times and been commented on thousands of times.

One disgusted person said: “I just used the refillable shampoo yesterday, and now I'm freaked out.”

Another added: “Why did I have to see this while I'm staying in the hotel?

“I will never use anything in a room again.”

Melissa added people should consider asking for new toiletries which have not yet been opened before they arrive for their stay.
