A stunning detached house alongside an idyllic canal has gone on the market for the bargain price of just £100,000.

But with the small price tag comes a big catch.

The dreamy surroundings in Chorley, Lancashire, could be perfect for someone longing for a life next to the water - with views of the scenic White Bear Marina.

However, the renovation project is not for the faint hearted.

Any potential buyers are likely to spend much more on the renovation and put in plenty of hard work to create their dream home.

It currently stands boarded up in overgrown surroundings and is described as being "in need of full renovation", reports Lancashire Live.

According to its listing, the property would be suitable for various uses if planning permission could be secured.

Last year, an application from Bolton-based Basharat Khan sought to transform the building into a cafe with a holiday let.

That proposal would have seen the surrounding area used to house glamping pods to form new holiday accommodation.

However, the application was criticised for lacking key detail and was withdrawn around five months after being registered.

The building has remained empty ever since but sits in an idyllic location and could be transformed to have a much better future if bought by someone with the sufficient skills and resources. It will go on sale via Auction House at 12pm on June 22.
