A man has faced a backlash from his ex girlfriend after he cancelled a £500 spa package he had bought for her before she split up with him over text. The man recently went into the spa to ask if he could get another voucher reissued to himself and asked if they could cancel the existing one.

When she found out that her voucher had been cancelled, the ex hit the roof and phoned him up. But his reply has impressed many on an online forum.

Taking to Reddit, the man said he showed his receipts and bank statements to the spa to prove that the voucher was his.

In the post, the man, who remained anonymous, wrote: "I remembered for Christmas that I bought her (us) a really expensive couples massage spa package because she would always say how she wanted to do something like that.

"I had purchased some big package from a local place that cost roughly £500. I obviously didn't have the certificate with me. I decided to go to the spa and make up a story of how I lost the certificate."

He continued by saying that he was able to prove the voucher was his and the spa reissued him a voucher.

"They wound up reissuing me a voucher, and cancelling the other," he said.

"That was over a year ago and frankly I forgot about it. Today I get a call from her (first contact in a year since breaking up) and she's screaming at me over the phone that the gift certificate is no good and the spa place accused her of stealing.

"I just politely explained I didn't think she was deserving of it and if she really wanted to, she could just have her new partner pay for a new one. I then hung up."

He finished by saying he wants to use his voucher with his new girlfriend soon.

In response, many in the comments sided with the author of the post and said the ex was well out of line.

One person joked: "What a way to send a massage."

While another added: "This is excellent. You deprived her of her spa trip, you embarrassed her publicly, and you made her look like a petty thief. Well done."
